MARS WEEK: The program made a presentation at MIT's Mars Week, held October 4-6 in Cambridge, MA. Press from as far away as Italy noticed and covered the project.
WORLD SPACE CONGRESS: The team presented a poster at the World Space Congress, which took place in Houston, TX from October 10-19. The poster was well-received; the talks proved informative, and the program office made significant contacts.
NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS: The Austin, TX based company National Instruments made a recent in-kind gift to the Mars Gravity Biosatellite Project. Many thanks for the generous donation of hardware and software.
ASGSB: The science group showed a poster and gave a talk on November 7 at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Biology meeting at Cape Canaveral. The meeting was highly successful; our representatives accomplished all of their publicity goals and gained helpful feedback.
RECRUITING: The University of Washington recently finished a highly successful beginning-of-term recruiting drive. Welcome to the 30 new students working on the UW team.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM: The educational outreach programs at UW and MIT have started to become active. The programs aim to educate K-12 students about both space in general and the Mars Gravity Biosatellite Project in particular. Events are planned to take place within the next few weeks at schools in the Seattle and Boston areas.
UQ SEMESTER ENDS: The second semester for 2003 finished on Friday, Nov 1, and 21 students completed significant preliminary design reports for the Entry, Descent and Landing System.
